Unleash your artistic talents for a pet-worthy cause

COLUMBIA, Mo 9/23/13 (Beat Byte) -- Local animal advocacy organization No Kill Columbia wants pet-themed artwork for Art Unleashed, an event to benefit The Spay/Neuter Project.

"So far, we have received unique creations in a variety of media from area artists and pet-lovers across the United States," says Spay Neuter Project chairperson Melissa Kron.

"It is not too late to donate," she adds.  "We will accept pet-themed art until September 25th."

National celebrities have even turned their artistic talents toward the cause:  game show host Bob Barker; actress Katherine Heigl; and the finicky feline's best friend, My Cat From Hell television show host Jackson Galaxy.

Coming up Friday, September 27th, 2013, 7pm at Kemper Arena, 1270 E Boone Industrial Blvd in Columbia,  Art Unleashed will include silent and live auctions; local restaurant fare even the most finicky human will purr over; and adoptable pets from No Kill rescues -- centers and groups that don't euthanize stray animals.

All proceeds benefit the best way to reduce unwanted strays -- the Spay/Neuter Project, a partnership with the nationally-accredited Humane Alliance to open a high volume, low-cost spay and neuter clinic for Columbia and neighboring communities.

The campaign has raised $25,000 to date.

Art Unleashed tickets may be purchased for $20 online and at Award Pet Supply, Lizzi & Rocco’s Natural Pet Market, and Treats Unleashed.  Tickets are $25 at the door.
